Principal analyst Marcia J. Rodney has more than fifteen years of extensive research experience, in both education and business. In the education arena she has worked with numerous states on survey design and analysis, examining the rigor and impact of school library programs, and traveled and spoken extensively about the import of these studies. On the business front her work has included competitive intelligence and trend analysis, both for Fortune 500 companies and Main Street. Additional experience includes survey administration and membership profiling for professional associations, content development for distance learner portals, and corporate library consultation and planning. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Rodney received her masters degree in library and information science from the University of Denver.
Bill Schwarz is an experienced project manager holding degrees in electrical engineering (BSEE) and business (MBA). His extensive background includes instrumentation and control system engineering, quality assurance and control, technical writing, experimental test design and data analysis, engineering consulting, and small business ownership. As our "back office" man, Bill supports all ongoing activities. He has over six years of survey design, data collection and database management experience with RSL, and has been a key participant in every project RSL has completed.
Keith Curry Lance, PhD is known widely for his contributions to library research and statistics. The founding and longtime Director of the Library Research Service at the Colorado State Library, he has also served as an Affiliated Faculty member of the Library and Information Science Program, College of Education, University of Denver. For more than two decades, he has been a consultant and advisor to state and federal government agencies and professional associations; a regularly-published author of books, articles, and issue papers; and a popular speaker at state, national and international library events. The purpose of all this activity was summed up succinctly in his 2006 win of the ASCLA Leadership Achievement Award, which was given "for his national contributions to the development of performance measures for libraries and the assessment of the educational and social impact of library services." RSL projects benefit from Dr. Lance’s well-established expertise and extensive experience in research design and statistical analysis.
Christine Hamilton-Pennell is Founder and President of Growing Local Economies, a company that provides resources, training, and consulting to economic development, small business, and library audiences. Christine is an accomplished speaker who has made dozens of presentations to local, national, and international audiences. Previously, she served as Economic Intelligence Specialist for the Business/Industry Affairs department of the City of Littleton, Colorado. In this position she provided strategic consulting, competitive intelligence, marketing support, and customized research to businesses as part of their Economic Gardening project. She also owned an independent research company for five years. Christine holds a master's degree in library and information science from UCLA, and a master's degree in religion from The Iliff School of Theology.
Becky Russell is a Senior Librarian at the Denver Public Library. A former colleague of Keith Curry Lance at the Library Research Service in the Colorado State Library, Russell has collaborated on many research projects about libraries and librarianship. She has also researched and written about literacy issues. With an undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies and a master's degree in library and information science, Russell has a varied professional background in international relations, small business, and education.
